Inspired by Sarah’s unique personal style, you will design and hand stitch a beautiful, nostalgic piece of textile art, framed for display in a 6 inch hoop.

Using your own family photograph, Sarah will encourage you to develop a design that evokes happy memories, creating a wonderful family heirloom that can be treasured for years to come as a keepsake for yourself or a beautiful, meaningful gift for family and friends.

You’ll have access to a lovely selection of fabrics, lace, trims, buttons, beads, threads and vintage haberdashery for you to incorporate into your design.

Sarah will be on hand to give you expert advice and instruction on a huge variety of embroidery, techniques and specific hand stitches to embellish and complete your finished art work beautifully.
This workshop is designed for everyone from beginners to those wishing to advance their textile skills and experiment with new techniques in a warm, friendly environment, with lots of tea and cakes to keep you going, giving you the inspiration and skills to work confidently on your own future projects.

All equipment and materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own haberdashery bits and bobs to personalise your embroidery. Treasured buttons, brooches, handkerchiefs or bits of ribbon and lace, stored away out of sight can be incorporated into your finish piece to help make it truly special to you.

On booking your place, Sarah will require a copy or scan of the family photograph you wish to use in your project (which will be returned to you). An image of your photograph will then be transferred onto fabric for use during the workshop. You could also add some text, or a personalised message, which Sarah can also print onto fabric for you. This could form part of the design or be used as a greeting on the back of the design, if you wanted to give it as a gift.
